Goal setting improves your focus & Performance
Goals might seem connected to dreams and desires, and they for sure are, but there is also scientific ground on how goals can increase your performance and attention in four different ways:
They direct your attention, increase and prolong your effort, and even motivate you to develop strategies to further increase your performance. Do you agree? We do, and that’s why we will share some tips on how to set goals so that you can maximize your performance!
How Does Goal Setting Work?
Before jumping straight to setting a goal, it’s important to take a step back and ask yourself questions like: What do I truly want to accomplish? What is my big WHY?
Questions of this sort will make you gain clarity on yourself and what you want to bring into the world, enabling you to identify your goals effectively. But how does goal setting work? It’s all about reverse engineering finish lines. Think about the life goal you have in a specific area, whether that is your career, finances, fitness, or anything else.
Now that you have identified the “big picture,” start to progressively break it down into smaller chunks. You can set a 10-year goal, a 5-year goal, then a 1-year goal, a quarter goal, and so on and so forth.
Going from Macro to Micro will enable you to know what the next domino is while keeping the finish line in mind.
Your reason WHY & Its Effect on Goal Setting
Now that you know how to set goals, you may want to learn why you should do them. Yes, to improve your performance and attention, but this equation also has a deeper reason. When you have a clear goal, you have an internal driver that will steer the wheel even when you don’t feel like it. And this is the key.
This internal driver will ensure that you are getting to the end result, no matter weather and traffic. So when people ask us, how are you so committed and consistent? The reason is that we have a big enough reason WHY that keeps our internal driver awake 24/7/365.
This is the part of goal setting that is impossible to understand before you experience it yourself. When you have the inner drive and the reason why there is no other alternative than to keep going. This is why world-class athletes train most of their time awake, why entrepreneurs never retire, and why you still keep pushing towards your goals, even though everyone keeps questioning you.
Your reason why and the inner drive is something only you know, but when you find it, you truly become unstoppable.
Maximizing your potential
I don’t know about you, but our goal is to feel exactly like that every day of our lives. With clear goals, you will be more engaged with what you’re doing, you will be able to sustain your efforts more effectively, and you’ll have a strong WHY guiding you every step of the way.
The journey toward the maximization of your potential is an infinite one. It won’t always be easy, but it will surely be worth it.
We hope this blog post helped you gain a new perspective on goal setting!
